MISS MELANCHOLY

We were thrilled to see all of you at our book signing at Printed Matter in NYC for the release of “MISS MELANCHOLY”. The book signing took place last March and in NYC and we were all touched by the wonderful turnout! All four-band members were in attendance and signed copies of the book.

Plans to partner with a foundation supporting mental heath issues is in the works. We want to continue to reach out to people regarding anxiety and depression. So, stay tuned for updates regarding “MISS MELANCHOLY”.

 FLOWER PARADE

I was so excited and inspired creating “MISS MELANCHOLY”, that I couldn’t wait to get started on a book for the BOOK OF LOVE song “FLOWER PARADE” from the LoveBubble album, 1993.

“FLOWER PARADE”is now a 50 page full-color, limited edition artists’ book.

“FLOWER PARADE” is a glossary of 40 deliciously named, and devastatingly beautiful flora. Stop and smell the roses! Flowers in art, music, mythology and literature have healed, comforted and nourished our souls since- FOREVER!

“FLOWER PARADE”, was released on 10/5 at my solo art show at Saul Lyons Gallery in the New Hope Arts Building in New Hope, PA.

The show included all the original paintings from the book as well as a small selection of other new pieces.

A variety of other “FLOWER PARADE”merchandise was also on sale.

The show was on view in New Hope through November 2.

All of the Flowers have a story!

All of the flowers have a name!”

Thanks to all you came out to New Hope for the show and opening reception. The book and merchandise are now available on this website: susanottaviano.com/artwork/.

Lots of Love, Susan

Happy 2019!

I am excited to announce that we have a brand new book that was just released.

Miss Melancholy Book

Miss Melancholy Book

“Miss Melancholy”, the song from Book of Love’s 1991 album, Candy Carol, is available as a 32-page, full-color book. It has been a dream of mine to illustrate the story of “Miss Melancholy” and has been on my bucket list for many years. The book is a fairy tale about a woman unable to appreciate a world beyond her reach. The book is also our opportunity to raise awareness about clinical depression. We hope that those who suffer will feel less alone and seek the help they need.

There will be a book signing hosted by PRINTED MATTER at 231 11th Ave, NYC
MARCH 7 at 8:00 PM
All four original Book of Love band members will be there to sign books!

Printer Matter is a bookstore in West Chelsea that caries beautiful art books and many self-published and one of a kind books.

The book will be available at our remaining 2019 concerts as well as my online store and at select independent bookstores.

This project also includes exclusive merchandise and a brand new “Miss Melancholy” video directed by Ronaldo Aguiar that will be shown during future performances.

All items are available to purchase on this website, by visiting the Art Store.

IN 2018, Book of Love performed 23 shows in the US and Canada. It was an amazing year visiting these cities and meeting all of our friends.

Alas, all good things must come to an end. We will complete our final shows of “The Sire Years/ 30thAnniversary Tour” during the first half of 2019.

We will have a few upcoming show announcements in the near future, as well as a final performance to celebrate!

It has been quite a journey! Most of all, we really appreciate our fans! It’s wonderful to know that our songs have really made a difference and continue to live on. It’s been a pleasure to perform for you, and we thank you for your support!

Hi Friends,

Welcome to the launch of my new website developed and created by the fabulous Alyson Palmer. I’m excited to be able to share all my work with you in one place. This is my first ever news post, so I need to update you on the latest and greatest!

I am very excited to be making a new video for the song Miss Melancholy with Ronaldo Aguiar. After having the great pleasure of working with Ronaldo on the Lullaby video,
I was so happy that he agreed to sign on for another! Miss Melancholy has always been a very special and personal song for me, so making this video has been on my bucket list for years! Ted and I will be adding the video and the song to our set later in the spring. Ronaldo did some filming in NYC last month and he is now back in Brazil in post production. Stay tuned!

Shows this month in Seattle and Dallas were fun! Here are some pictures of  soundcheck in Dallas with the Lullaby video up on the screen and the Marquis at the Granada Theater.
One of our fans in Seattle made his own custom BOL vest with images and lyrics from Witchcraft, Modigliani and Alice Everyday!

We are off to Toronto (first time in Canada in over 20 years) and NoLa at the end of March! It’s been so great to meet and to catch up with friends and fans. Seeing how much the music has meant to people over the years has definitely been the best part of being back on the road again! That enthusiasm continues to inspire me!!!

I also worked on some interesting new food shoots with photographer Brian Klutch. These are some shots for a brand new magazine from Bauer Publishing.

See you next month!
